Concern for King Frederick After What Happened During His Trip to Greenland

This Tuesday, King Federico embarked on his first official trip to Greenland since his proclamation as monarch

All alarms have been raised around King Frederick following what happened during his official trip to Greenland. His visit has been marked by inclement weather and a somewhat tense geopolitical context.

It was last Tuesday, April 29, when the current King of Denmark embarked on his first official visit to the island since he was proclaimed monarch in 2024.

As reported by several Danish media outlets, the royal plane landed in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, around 10:30 local time, delayed from the scheduled time.

King Frederick arrived accompanied by Greenland's Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, who took the opportunity to return home after several days in Denmark. However, due to bad weather, both were forced to modify the official agenda.

So much so that they had to cancel their visit to Kapisillit, an event with which the Danish monarch was going to inaugurate his trip to Greenland. Instead, he took a boat ride through the Arctic landscape.

Moreover, as if that weren't enough, King Frederick's reception in Nuuk was sparse, as only three citizens came to the port to greet him. Despite this, the monarch was very approachable and grateful for their presence.

"Every time I return, I feel happier to be here," said the husband of Queen Mary of Denmark to the local media who attended his arrival.

Despite the low citizen turnout, Prime Minister Nielsen assured that King Frederick "is very loved in Greenland" and that "his connection with this land is genuine and deep."

Undoubtedly, this trip reflects the Danish Crown's intention to strengthen ties with Greenland. Although it currently enjoys a high degree of self-government, it remains part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

However, King Frederick's visit has occurred at a geopolitically delicate moment, as Donald Trump once proposed buying Greenland. A gesture that managed to increase the tension between them.

The king's agenda will continue in the coming days. More institutional events and visits to different communities are planned. The goal is to reaffirm the bond between both peoples.
