Regretful, Deco apologizes to Flick's protégé: 'Good thing you stayed'

The sporting director was close to closing a sale and now has had to backtrack

Deco has been one of the most criticized figures at Barça because of his moves in the transfer markets. The sporting director has made great decisions, but he has also made mistakes on several occasions. Even so, what is clear is that it's not just up to him; Laporta also plays a key role in all the decisions.

Both backed Flick and it's already clear that they were absolutely right, but not everything is positive. There have been players who joined the blaugrana ranks who weren't needed and others who should have left. Fortunately, Hansi stopped a sale and now Deco must reflect.

Flick's salvation

Flick is the person who has managed to make Barça rise from its ashes and return to the top of the soccer scene. Under his guidance, each and every blaugrana footballer has shown their best soccer. In fact, several have caught the attention of some of the continent's top teams.

Even so, Flick is very clear that his players are untouchable and he has tried to let as few as possible leave. Despite this, it's clear that some sales had to be made and some had to be allowed to leave. One of those who seemed to be heading for the exit was Marc Casadó, but fortunately, he stayed.

There were rumors that if Xavi Hernández stayed at Barça, Marc Casadó would leave on loan or as a sale the following year. After Flick arrived, Marc found his place and earned the respect and affection of all the fans. This summer, there were many rumors about a move to the Premier League, but Flick didn't want that under any circumstances.

Deco's intentions

According to several sources, Deco had Marc Casadó as one of the transferable players and Flick refused. Now that there are several injured players, it's been proven that Marc is truly important to the team. Although he has more than enough quality to be a starter, he accepts his role without complaint and always gives absolutely everything.

Although Flick prefers Frenkie de Jong, Marc Casadó plays a key role in his scheme. In the coming matches, we'll see Casadó shining in midfield alongside Pedri and, hopefully, Fermín. We still can't take anything for granted, but it's very likely that Marc will be at Barça for many years.
