Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, are one of the most recognized and admired couples in the British royal family. Over the years, they have kept a low profile, but have also been very careful with their private life, especially regarding their three children.

However, the past few months have been especially tough for them, as they have been marked by health problems in the closest circle of the heir to the throne. First with Kate, then with the diagnosis of his father, King Charles III.

Prince William's announcement about Kate Middleton

In a preview of the Apple TV show The Reluctant Traveler, hosted by Eugene Levy, Prince William has opened up like never before. During the episode, King Charles III's eldest son reflects on the challenges his family has faced in 2024.

A year that changed him deeply. "I think when you suddenly realize that the metaphorical rug holding you up can be pulled out from under your feet quickly at any moment, you think to yourself: 'It won't happen to us. We'll be fine'".

"But when it happens to you, it takes you to places that are quite, you know, not very pleasant", he confessed. Kate Middleton's health has been the subject of public attention throughout the year.

Although the princess has preferred to keep some privacy regarding her treatment, her husband has confirmed that the progress is positive. "Everything is on track, which is good news", he assured.

Nevertheless, he doesn't hide the emotional burden this period has brought: "I'd say 2024 was the hardest year I've had. I try to find a balance between protecting the children, Kate..."

Prince William also spoke about Charles III's illness

In addition, the prince also referred to the health condition of his father, King Charles III, who has also gone through a complex medical process. "My father needs a bit of protection, but he's old enough to do it himself", he explained.

"But it's important that my family feels protected and has the space to process many of the things that have happened over the past year." William concluded the emotional testimony by acknowledging the effort of his loved ones.

"I'm very proud of my wife and my father for how they handled everything last year. My children have also done wonderfully." Despite the difficulties, Prince William has made it clear that his priority remains the well-being of his loved ones.
