Princess Alexia, Queen Máxima's middle daughter, opens up in an interview

Citizens of the Netherlands are shocked after the interview Princess Alexia gave to the Dutch magazine Story. Queen Máxima's middle daughter has decided to take a step forward and reveal one of the most difficult moments of her life.

In the interview, Alexia broke her silence and confessed that she experienced cyberbullying that affected her deeply both emotionally and psychologically. This problem represents one of the great scourges of this society where social media play an essential role. In fact, it was there that the princess began to be the target of hurtful comments and fierce criticism.

"I'm very aware of the harm that constant online comparisons can cause, especially among young people," she commented. Queen Máxima's daughter values mental health and is glad that more and more visibility is being given to these kinds of situations.

"I'm very glad that mental health problems are no longer dismissed as if they were simply a teenage phase," she noted. The young royal went through episodes of anxiety and stress directly caused by the constant pressure of receiving negative messages and unjustified attacks about herself.

Faced with this situation, Princess Alexia decided to turn to specialists who helped her overcome that ordeal. Thanks to professional and family support, Queen Máxima's daughter managed to recover. Now, she has decided to break her silence so that her experience can help anyone going through the same situation.

Queen Máxima, Princess Alexia's greatest support

Princess Alexia is known in the Netherlands by the nickname "the rebellious princess." Her behavior and decisions are very different from those of her other sisters, showing herself determined to follow her own path.

After taking a gap year, Queen Máxima's daughter moved to London, where she studies Science and Engineering for Social Change. This way, away from her family, she tries to lead as normal a life as possible.

However, this doesn't mean she has broken contact with her family. On the contrary, both Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander are essential for her. "Sometimes I call my parents twice a day, like most people who've moved," she explained.

"I think I call my mother more than my father," she added, thus revealing the strong connection with Queen Máxima. Although Princess Alexia feels a special fondness for her father and her sisters, it's with the queen that she feels most identified. Not in vain, Queen Máxima also went through a difficult time when her younger sister died due to a mental health problem.

"I decided to honestly share that she took her own life after years of mental problems," the sovereign confessed. For this reason, she didn't hesitate to give her daughter all the support she needed when she was a victim of cyberbullying.
