Yesterday, Wednesday, July 9, was a very special day in the Ferrol estuary. The training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano returned to the region, causing great excitement among locals and visitors. It entered under sail, escorted by numerous boats, which further highlighted the majesty of this iconic vessel that symbolizes Spain's naval history.

Very early in the morning, Curuxeiras port was filled with onlookers and media. Everyone wanted to see Princess Leonor, who continues her demanding military training on board the ship. The vessel spent the night anchored in Mugardos before approaching Ferrol port for its arrival.

Captain Luis Carreras-Presas do Campo explained that this was the thirteenth time Elcano had arrived in Ferrol. Regarding Leonor, he said that she is just another student, with the same commitment and dedication as the other cadets. The princess takes part in naval training activities with rigor, responsibility, and discipline, earning the respect of her peers and instructors.

Military training and the recognitions that move Queen Letizia

Princess Leonor is experiencing a decisive stage in her military training, and this is the good news that most moves Queen Letizia. For six months, she has traveled to various countries, including Brazil, Uruguay, and the Dominican Republic. This experience has allowed her to learn and grow in a real, demanding, and challenging environment.

Next Monday, Princess Leonor will receive the Gold Medal of Galicia at Pazo de Raxoi. This recognition rewards her commitment and dedication during her training. In addition, she will be named Adoptive Daughter of Marín, a title that was also given to her paternal grandfather.

Leonor's schedule in Galicia will be intense and full of official events. She arrived in Ferrol on Wednesday, will leave for Marín on Saturday, and must be present at the official ceremonies scheduled for the coming days. She will also attend the commissioning ceremony in Marín on July 16, an event at which she will be accompanied by her parents, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.

The end of one stage and the beginning of another in her military training

The final touch to this naval phase will come with the celebration of Carmen Day, patron saint of the Spanish Navy, a very significant date for the royal family. At that ceremony, the princess will receive her official commission from her own father, King Felipe VI. This presentation symbolizes the formal beginning of her military career and her commitment to her country.

In September, Princess Leonor will begin a new stage of her training at the General Air and Space Academy in San Javier, Murcia. There, she will continue preparing with effort and dedication, as she has done so far. This way, she will follow in her father's footsteps, who also trained at that academy.

The princess is showing a serious and constant commitment to her military training. Her progress and attitude are a source of pride for Queen Letizia and the entire royal family. This stage brings her ever closer to her future role as heir to the throne and to her responsibilities as future queen.
