This recognition is awarded before the large-scale event on July 24, but it has been brought forward specifically due to the heiress's schedule. President Alfonso Rueda will highlight the "mark and relationship" of the Royal House with Galicia after four months completed in her naval training as a sailor.

Princess Leonor will wear a midshipman's dress uniform, showing her loyalty to the military service begun at the Marín Naval Academy. Other members of the Royal Family, such as the king and queen, will accompany their daughter at this important event, underlining institutional respect.

After the medal is awarded, a brief speech from the princess is expected, reflecting on her naval training and her commitment to Galicia. The ceremony will conclude with applause, honorary salutes, and a protocol parade by the armed forces present in Santiago de Compostela.

The other key day for Princess Leonor and the royal family

Honors and tributes to Princess Leonor will not end with the awarding of the Gold Medal of Galicia. Two days later, on July 16, the Royal Family will see the heiress receive the title of Favorite Daughter of Marín.

The tribute will take place during the celebration of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors, which adds maritime symbolism to the event. The mayor of Marín, María Ramallo, will present the recognition, explaining the strong bond that has developed between the city, the Navy, and the Royal House.

The Princess of Asturias Leonor, Queen Letizia, King Felipe VI and Infanta Sofía, receive the poet and essayist, Ana Blandiana, winner of the 2024 Princess of Asturias Award for Literature, along with other winners of the 2024 Princess of Asturias Awards, at the Hotel La Reconquista, on October 25, 2024, in Oviedo, Asturias.

At this event, in addition to the Royal Family, midshipmen who are Princess Leonor's classmates will also be present, as well as provincial, military, and civil authorities. This official title recognizes not only her time at the Naval Academy, but also her integration into the Galician maritime community over several months. The tribute will include military parades, flag raising, the naval anthem, and moving speeches about these months in the Navy.

The schedule continues with the commissioning of officers on the same July 16 at the Marín Naval Academy. With these official events in Santiago and Marín, Galicia pays institutional and popular tribute to the princess for her military training and maritime connection.

Leonor thus brings to a close an intense period of military training, deeply connected to Galicia, which culminates in emotional and symbolic official recognitions. Meanwhile, the July 14 event stands out for its protocol exclusivity, the Marín event will have a local, intimate, and very moving tone.
