The Netherlands experienced an unexpected moment this Wednesday because of the Royal Family: Amalia made a public appearance, walking arm in arm with her father Willem-Alexander. The scene surprised everyone because it was the first official event the princess attended after her equestrian accident. That accident took place on June 10 (10 de junio), and Amalia fractured her arm and had to undergo emergency surgery.
Since then, the heir to the throne has stayed away from the spotlight, but this Wednesday she returned and did so with strength. She accompanied her father at a military event at the Prince Bernhard Barracks in Amersfoort.
There, King Willem-Alexander presented the new standard to the Princess Catharina-Amalia Hussars Regiment. The princess was present at all times.

During the ceremony, Willem-Alexander reviewed the troops and then received the flags of the Princess of Orange Hussars, Prince Alexander, and Sytzama regiments. These three companies merged in 2020 (2020), and since then, they have formed the Princess Catharina-Amalia Hussars Regiment. Even so, they have kept their original banners.
After the flag presentation, the new standard was introduced, and their new march was also performed. The king delivered an emotional speech.

Then, father and daughter spoke with several members of the regiment. Amalia of the Netherlands wore her arm in a sling and held onto King Willem-Alexander with her other arm: It was a much-discussed image.
The surgery took place at the UMC Utrecht university hospital. The procedure was a complete success, and two days later, Amalia was discharged. Since then, she has recovered at Huis ten Bosch Palace.
