Apart from her latest horse accident, Princess Amalia of the Netherlands has become the center of attention. All because of the latest and unexpected decision she has made regarding Princess Leonor: excluding her from her group of friends.
There is no doubt that international relations are one of the main responsibilities of monarchs. Through state visits and official trips, they strengthen ties with friendly nations.

This work is not only limited to the institutional sphere, but also involves developing a personal and charismatic connection with other leaders. In the case of heirs to the throne, this work can even begin before they assume the crown.
In this context, Princess Amalia of the Netherlands has shown that she is very aware of the importance of building strong ties with her European counterparts. That's why, for quite some time, she has kept a very close relationship with two other future queens: Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway and Princess Elisabeth of Belgium.
Together, they form a trio united by their common destiny as leaders of royalty in the future. However, despite the friendship their parents keep with King Felipe and Queen Letizia, it seems that the young woman has not managed to strengthen ties with Princess Leonor.
Princess Amalia of the Netherlands makes a tough and unexpected decision regarding Princess Leonor: excluding her from her circle
According to the Australian magazine The Australian Women’s Weekly, the three young women keep a WhatsApp group where they share confidences and mutual support. In that group, they define themselves as "royalty's best friends" and share unique experiences that only they understand.

It was Amalia of the Netherlands herself who has confirmed how close she is to the princesses of Norway and Belgium. "We keep in touch because each of us leads a very particular life and we don't need many explanations to understand each other," the young woman has stated.
"I'm glad I can chat with Elisabeth and Ingrid about simple things in our lives, which are difficult and different for us: friendship, privacy, social media. We talk about how we manage it," the daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima has added.

However, it is striking that Princess Leonor is not part of this circle of trust among European heiresses. Although her relationship with Princess Amalia of the Netherlands is described as cordial and close, they have never been seen together at public events.
A very significant example was the gala dinner organized by Queen Margrethe of Denmark in 2023 to celebrate Prince Christian's coming of age. That day, Princess Leonor became one of the great absentees.
However, representatives of the main European monarchies did attend, such as Estelle of Sweden, Ingrid Alexandra, Amalia, and Elisabeth. This gathering was an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties among the continent's future leaders.
However, the heiress to the Spanish throne has not yet participated in this type of institutional event. In fact, to this day, she hasn't even attended an international gala dinner.
