Irene of Greece hasn't lived her best days lately because for some time now, her health has been a cause for concern for those close to her. At 83 years old (83 years old), Queen Sofía's sister has gone through difficult times. The emeritus queen, who is 86 years old (86 years old), hasn't hidden her concern at any time.
In recent days, there has been much talk about Queen Sofía's initial absence in Mallorca, and her delay has drawn attention. Usually, she is the first to arrive at Marivent Palace. She has always wanted to welcome her children and granddaughters there, but this year that hasn't been the case.

Kings Felipe and Letizia have already arrived on the island, and they've done so with their daughters. At that moment, everyone asked the same question: Where is Queen Sofía? The answer came shortly after. Irene of Greece's health has forced all plans to change.
Irene of Greece has stayed at Zarzuela and hasn't been able to go with her family
Mariángel Alcázar was the first to confirm it. The journalist explained on television that Queen Sofía wanted to remain in Madrid for a few more days.
The reason was clear: to be close to her sister. Zarzuela's doctors have recommended that Irene not travel for now and have performed new medical tests. Queen Sofía has wanted to accompany her at all times.

It was also confirmed on Televisión Española: The emeritus queen will stay only 48 hours in Mallorca. It's a brief stay, very different from other years because normally, she spends entire weeks at Marivent. This time is different because her sister's health comes first.
Irene of Greece hasn't been able to travel this summer. She has always done so with her sister, but now it hasn't been possible. Her condition hasn't allowed it.
Zarzuela's doctors won't let Irene of Greece leave Madrid
Despite this, Mariángel Alcázar sent a reassuring message. "These aren't alarming circumstances," she said. "She has better days and worse days, but she is stable," she stated.

The concern has existed, but it hasn't worsened. Irene needs rest. Those around her have respected that.
This summer she won't be with the rest of the family in Mallorca. However, if her health improves, maybe next year she will be able to do so. For now, the doctors have made it clear: Irene of Greece can't travel.
