Happiness at Krispy Kreme: the donut deal that not even Dunkin' has in the US

Krispy Kreme launches a special promotion in their stores that has caught the attention of donut lovers

Sometimes, a good excuse to celebrate can be found in the sweetest place. Not every birthday needs a classic cake with candles and confetti. Some people prefer a fluffy, warm bite covered in icing.

For them, Krispy Kreme had a special gift. On July 18, the American chain celebrated its 88th anniversary with an irresistible promotion. On that day, they offered a dozen glazed donuts for just 88 cents, but with one condition: customers had to buy another dozen at full price.

A tribute to its roots

The brand was founded in 1937 in North Carolina by Vernon Rudolph. They say that in its early days, the aroma of freshly made donuts attracted passersby, and Vernon opened a hole in the bakery wall to sell from the street. Today, that close and traditional essence is still alive in its stores.

To mark the anniversary, Krispy Kreme wanted to pay tribute to its origins with a symbolic offer: 88 cents, a nod to the number of years celebrated. This promotion was available both in physical stores and for online orders, although with some limits. In stores, customers could buy up to two dozens at the reduced price; online, only one.

For web or app orders, users had to enter the code BDAY, as revealed in All Recipes. This offer was available at all participating stores in the United States and did not include those located in gas stations or airports. Even so, it was an opportunity that many did not want to miss.

More than donuts, a tradition

The original glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme are the chain's star product. Their popularity has remained intact over time. According to figures from the brand itself, millions of units are sold every year in the United States alone.

In addition, its iconic "Hot Light," which turns on when the donuts are freshly made, has created an entire culture among fans. Some even go out of their way on their daily route just to catch the perfect moment and enjoy a hot one. The brand, which now has a presence in more than 30 countries, continues to bet on tradition while still innovating.

The promotion for its 88th birthday was not just a marketing strategy, but a way to thank customers for their loyalty. Many users shared their boxes of donuts and long lines in stores on social media, and some even bought them to take to work or share with family. While other chains like Dunkin' bet on coffee and constant changes in their menus, Krispy Kreme keeps the original recipe alive.
