The United States Social Security Administration (SSA) has confirmed a key change that will bring joy to millions of Americans. This refers to a decision that brings relief and clarity regarding Social Security and SSI payments.
SSA announced that payments that would normally arrive on August 3, since it falls on a Sunday, will be deposited on Friday, August 1. This notice comes in advance, which allows beneficiaries to better plan their finances before the weekend.
New SSA payments will arrive on August 1: pay attention to this change
The announcement comes shortly before the end of the month and provides significant relief for those who depend on these regular incomes. On August 1, SSI and Social Security payments will be made to people who have been receiving them since before May 1997 or who receive both Social Security and SSI at the same time.

This adjustment prevents concerns about delays or confusion for those who receive these amounts. It also means that, in August, some people will receive their money a couple of days earlier than usual. This can help pay rent, utilities, medicines, or planned purchases for the beginning of the month.
Those who are paid according to the Wednesday rule, based on their birthday, won't see any change. They will continue to be paid on their corresponding day, since there are no holidays this month that affect those days.
SSA and the U.S. government settle all doubts
According to SSA, "when the payment date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, we move the payment to the previous business day to prevent delays." This procedure is in line with the regulations governing Social Security and SSI programs. It shows the agency's commitment to ensuring that payments reach Americans without issues.

The government, through the official SSA website, reaffirms their commitment to ensuring timely payments. They provide clear information and assistance available through the "my Social Security" account or by phone, to answer questions.
This advance notice adds to other recent measures that have provided financial relief: a 2.5% increase in Social Security and SSI payments since January 2025 (enero de 2025), to offset inflation. Also, the changes resulting from the Social Security Fairness Act, which have benefited public sector workers by freeing them from unfair reductions in their payments.
