Every day, millions of Catalans raise the blinds to see what weather awaits them. Beyond the forecasts on television or radio, directly checking the state of the sky is very common. However, a change has arrived, because Catalonia faces a weekend clearly marked by heat and stable conditions. According to meteorologist Eloi Cordomí, after a few days of pleasant temperatures, the thermometer will experience a notable rise throughout the territory. This Friday, the rise will already be noticeable thanks to a sunny day with a clear sky.
Temperatures will reach 80.6°F (27°C) and even 82.4°F (28°C) in many regions of the interior and south of the territory, especially in Ponent, the pre-coastal area, and parts of Central Catalonia. Although in the north, the values will be milder and there will even be some local showers in the Eastern Pyrenees area. The forecast for the weekend keeps this same trend, with temperatures continuing to rise.
Eloi Cordomí confirms that the weather will be warm throughout the country
Saturday will be very similar to Friday, with warm weather that will keep throughout the day. In the afternoon or toward the evening, some precipitation is not ruled out in areas of the Pyrenees. Especially in regions like Cerdanya, Ripollès, and Garrotxa, although they will not be widespread or intense.
It will be on Sunday when the heat becomes even more evident. Eloi Cordomí warns that the thermometers could be five to six degrees above the usual climatic average for this time of year. This phenomenon, he indicates, is due to a mass of warm air that will settle over the peninsula.
Rainy weather could return next week
Despite the heat, not all of the weekend will be dry. On Sunday afternoon, some isolated showers could repeat in the Pyrenees, although with a low probability and without affecting the rest of the territory. Beyond the weekend, all eyes are on the possible arrival of a cold air pocket starting Tuesday.
This phenomenon will cause a change in trend, with precipitation and a drop in temperatures that would return the mercury to normal values for May. Meanwhile, Catalonia will enjoy fully summery days, where the heat will be the true protagonist. So it's time to enjoy.
