Movistar's latest leaves Orange and Vodafone in ridicule: they can't wait any longer

Movistar remains the operator that adds the most net portabilities among the giants of the telecommunications sector

Movistar is experiencing one of its best moments in the competitive mobile phone market. While other major operators like Orange and Vodafone continue losing thousands of customers month after month, Movistar has managed to make a difference.

From May 2024 to April 2025, the company has managed to add more than 114,000 net portabilities. The most surprising thing is that it hasn't had a single month in the negative.

In a sector where it is common to see companies continuously losing mobile users, Movistar's case is almost an exception. The operator, which offers services in Spain under the brands Movistar and O2, has grown every month. It is true that its figures have varied depending on specific moments like summer, Christmas, or the start of LaLiga, but it has always kept growing.

Movistar goes a step ahead of the competition

This clearly contrasts with what is happening with its two main competitors, reports Adsl Zone. Vodafone, now in the hands of the Zegona group, is not recovering.

In May 2024, it already lost about 43,700 customers. Months like October and November of that same year were just as bad, with 43,500 and 56,500 fewer users, respectively. Additionally, it hasn't managed to close a single month in the positive since then.

Meanwhile, the case of Orange, which now operates under the name MasOrange, doesn't look good either. The company has suffered a hemorrhage of customers month after month, with losses ranging from 30,000 to 50,000 mobile users each month.

Alarms go off at Orange and Vodafone

This situation should set off alarms at Orange and Vodafone. They are not only losing users, but their decline is becoming increasingly constant and concerning.

Meanwhile, Movistar consolidates its leadership in the mobile market, supported by a strategy that, although traditional, continues to yield results. This means stability, quality coverage, and an offer that adapts to different types of users.

While the telecommunications market is becoming more demanding, it has achieved what seemed impossible in recent times. That is, to grow steadily for 12 consecutive months. The blue operator thus proves that, with a clear and solid proposal, it is possible to earn customers' trust.

Both Orange and Vodafone should take note. The competition doesn't wait, and every lost customer is harder to recover. If they don't act soon, Movistar's dominance will not only be kept but could expand even more in the coming months.
