Apart from all the scandals involving Marius Borg, the Norwegian Royal House has just issued an urgent notice about Princess Mette-Marit. According to confirmations, both she and Prince Haakon have decided not to attend the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV's pontificate.
It was on May 8 when, after two days of conclave, the chimney of the Sistine Chapel released its famous white smoke signaling the election of the new pope. However, it wasn't until 7:15 p.m. that same day when the protodeacon cardinal Dominique Mamberti announced "Habemus Papam."

After this historic moment, Leo XIV held his first public audience as pope. This event took place on May 12, at the Vatican and under the watchful eyes of about 2,500 journalists.
However, it won't be until this Sunday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m., when the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV's pontificate will be held in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican.

More than 150 international delegations, including the Spanish one, are expected to attend this event. Nonetheless, there is one institution that has decided not to attend this important event: the Norwegian Royal House.
As confirmed through a notice, Prince Haakon of Norway and Princess Mette-Marit have decided not to be present on this significant day. A decision also made by the Danish Royal House.

During the inauguration of Leo XIV's pontificate, all attendees will be able to witness a historic moment. A moment that Princess Mette-Marit and her husband have decided not to witness.
In this ceremony, the new pope will be invested with the pallium and the fisherman's ring, emblems that represent his authority as Bishop of Rome and successor of Saint Peter. With this solemn act, his pontificate at the head of the Catholic Church will officially begin.

Unlike Prince Haakon of Norway and Princess Mette-Marit, and as expected, the Spanish monarchs have already confirmed their attendance.
As confirmed, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia will lead the Spanish delegation attending the ceremony. The monarchs will be accompanied at all times by the First Vice President, María Jesús Montero, and the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, Félix Bolaños.
However, it has already been confirmed that, meanwhile, the President, Pedro Sánchez, will not be present at the event due to his upcoming international commitments.
