King Felipe has become the center of attention after the latest and decisive decision he has made regarding Juan Carlos I has come to light. Despite his family's opposition, the current Spanish monarch has chosen to keep the promise he made after his ascension to the throne.
It was on June 19, 2014, when, in a joint session of the Congress of Deputies and the Senate, Felipe VI ascended to the Spanish throne after his father's abdication.

At that time, the new monarch promised in his speech before the Cortes Generales that he would set in motion a "renewed monarchy for a new era." He did so.
From then on, in an attempt to restore the damaged image of the Spanish Crown, both King Felipe and Queen Letizia took a series of measures. Among them was distancing themselves as much as possible from King Juan Carlos.
So much so that the emeritus not only had to go into exile in Abu Dhabi, but also, his son made the decision to publicly renounce his inheritance. A fortune that has always been marked by its mysterious and controversial origin.

Now, regarding the current distance between King Felipe and Juan Carlos I, new information has come to light. Keeping his word, the monarch has forbidden his father from settling in Marivent with the rest of the family.
A decision that, although it has been highly praised by many, has managed to distance him from his sisters, Infantas Elena and Cristina. Even though the siblings' relationship has now improved considerably, the truth is that both are very close to their father.
King Felipe keeps his word and forbids Juan Carlos from going to Marivent Palace
After fulfilling his latest institutional commitments, King Felipe traveled to Mallorca on July 27 to meet his family at Marivent. He will stay at the palace during the first days of his vacation.

Queen Sofía and her sister Irene are already there. In addition, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofía are expected to arrive on the island around August 3. It is expected that, this year, the young women will make their debut with their parents at the traditional official reception for Balearic society.
Meanwhile, Infanta Cristina is also expected to spend a few days at Marivent Palace to enjoy this summer period with her loved ones. However, King Juan Carlos I is someone we definitely won't see in Mallorca this summer.
As a result of the multiple scandals the emeritus has been involved in, which have endangered the crown's reputation, King Felipe made a drastic decision years ago. Despite the affection he has for him, the monarch decided to completely distance himself from him.
For this reason, and being consistent with his words, Queen Letizia's husband has now chosen not to allow his father to go to Marivent during the summer vacation. This is a measure that neither Infanta Cristina nor Elena view favorably.
