The royals visit some of the places most affected by the flames

The day began in Zamora, where Lake Sanabria and the Segundera and Porto mountain ranges have suffered significant damage. These protected natural areas have been severely affected by the wildfires, which worries authorities and residents.

Authorities have welcomed the royals. In this context, they have visited the wildfire command center to exchange views with firefighters, the Military Emergency Unit, and agents from the Junta of Castilla y León.

Later, they traveled to Las Médulas, in León. This is one of the most iconic natural sites, where the wildfire forced hundreds of residents to evacuate. There, fortunately, the efforts to protect the World Heritage Site paid off.

In any case, the image of Letizia kneeling and Felipe's knowing smile not only capture a moment of tenderness. They also represent the joint dedication of the royals in the face of a crisis that has marked this summer.
