It's time: Princess Leonor and her sister Sofía make a very important decision

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía are ready to take the final step within the institution

The decisive moment has arrived for Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía. The daughters of the monarchs have more than proven their commitment and are ready to take the next step. What happened this past weekend makes it clear which path both sisters intend to follow from now on.

Leonor and Sofía are destined to change the course of the institution, and every change requires a sacrifice. Their parents are aware of this, and they have no choice but to accept the determination of the princess and the infanta.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía take the final step together

Since the beginning of the summer, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía have given us unique moments at different official events. Now, with the holidays just around the corner, the sisters are expected to surprise us with their stay in Marivent. In recent times, it has become very common to see Leonor and Sofía always together.

For this reason, the time has come for the princess and the infanta to make the decision to separate their schedules from those of their parents. We saw this over the weekend when Leonor and Sofía appeared together at the Women's Euro final.

This also happened a few days ago during the visit to Sant Martí Vell. Although they went to the Catalan town with the monarchs, the latter gave them space to lead the visit through the municipality. As a result, all the spotlight and responsibility fell on Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía.

This decision to separate their schedules from those of their parents will allow both to have their own presence at official events. This will strengthen their public profile and put an end to the practice of depending exclusively on joint appearances with the monarchs.

With this evolution, the two daughters of the monarchs will appear together more often, without the need for the sovereigns to be present at every appearance. From Galicia to Catalonia, they have already been seen sharing activities. In all of them, they have stood out for their professionalism and, above all, for their great rapport.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía are ready to assume their roles

The decision to partially separate their institutional schedules from the official schedule of their parents is based on several reasons. First, both already fulfill different roles. Princess Leonor recently completed her naval training on the Juan Sebastián Elcano, and she will soon enter the General Air Academy.

Infanta Sofía has finished her International Baccalaureate in Wales and is preparing to begin university studies in Political Science and International Relations in Lisbon. In this context, the step of separating their schedules from those of their parents is just the first step toward new changes.

Later on, the time will come when the paths of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía will take different directions. According to their institutional rank, there will be events that require the presence of only one of them.

Princess Leonor, as heir, will lead higher-ranking events, such as the presentation of military diplomas, institutional awards, or ceremonies representing the Crown. Infanta Sofía, as second in the line of succession, will take on her own events related to culture, youth, or social initiatives.

The separation of schedules doesn't mean that they will no longer collaborate. Both they and the monarchs will meet again at those institutional events that require the presence of the entire royal family. However, we are witnessing the beginning of a stage that promises to be extended and consolidated over time.

With Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, the succession of the Crown is assured, as well as a more modern and present monarchy.
