This Wednesday, July 23, the Princess of Girona Awards were held at the iconic Liceu Theater in Barcelona. The entire royal family attended this very special event: King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Leonor, and Sofía were present. The ceremony marked an important moment in the institutional agenda of the year.
The awards celebrated their fifteenth anniversary. Since the Princess of Girona Foundation was created in 2010, this recognition has aimed to highlight young talent in Spain.
Currently, Leonor holds the title of Princess of Girona. She also holds the titles of Asturias and Viana. For this reason, she was responsible for presenting the awards to the six young recipients this year: Pablo Sánchez, Manuel Bouzas, Andreu Dotti, Antoni Forner-Cuenca, Valentina Agudelo, and Gabriela Asturias.

The ceremony proceeded normally; however, one gesture especially drew attention. It happened during the official photo, when Felipe, Letizia, and their daughters posed for the media. At that moment, Queen Letizia displayed an attitude that did not go unnoticed.
At first, Letizia stood between King Felipe and Infanta Sofía but, shortly after, she decided to change her position. The queen stood in front of King Felipe, and by doing so, she turned her back to her youngest daughter, Infanta Sofía. It was an unexpected move and a gesture that surprised those present.
Several attendees noticed it. Cameras also captured it. The queen seemed unaware of the effect of her gesture.
Although it was a brief change of position, it sparked comments. Many interpreted the move as a sign of discomfort. Others, simply, as an attempt to find the best position for the photograph.
