We live in a world where jewelry not only dazzles because of its aesthetic value, but also because of the memories and symbols it represents. Thus, Danish royal family keeps a valuable treasure that has been passed down from generation to generation, filled with history and tradition.
Mary of Denmark has had the opportunity to wear some of the most iconic pieces from the royal jewelry box in recent months. However, there is one in particular that we won't see shining on her lapel, and the reason is simple: it belongs to her daughter, Princess Isabella.

A jewel full of history
This is an exceptional brooch that combines pearls and diamonds in a blend as sophisticated as its history. This piece originated in 1898, when then Grand Duchess Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin married Christian X of Denmark.
As part of her luxurious wedding gifts, Alexandrine received this brooch. Since then, it has kept its place as one of the most unique jewels in the Danish royal heritage.

The design of the piece is particularly distinguished: three round diamonds surround a central white pearl, forming a triangle. In addition, a teardrop-shaped pearl shell—with a soft pink hue—hangs elegantly as a pendant.
The jewel can be worn in two ways, with or without the pink pearl, which makes it a versatile and timeless piece. During the early years of her marriage, Alexandrine wore the brooch on numerous official occasions, as can be seen in portraits from the era.
Queen Margrethe made a decision with Queen Mary's daughter
Later, as a gesture of legacy, she decided to give it to her granddaughter, Princess Margrethe, in 1940, just after her birth. Margrethe, who years later would become Queen of Denmark, also wore the brooch at different official events.
Following this family tradition, Queen Margrethe chose to give the jewel to her granddaughter, Princess Isabella, as a baptism gift in 2007. Since then, Isabella has made some appearances with this historic piece, including her confirmation in 2022.
Thus, a jewel that has passed through the hands of three generations of royal women continues to write its story. This time, it does so on the neck of a young princess who, without a doubt, has a bright future ahead.
