The Royal Household team has decided to speak with Queen Letizia following the latest events that have taken place within the institution. During their conversation, according to reports, they assured her that this situation can't continue like this and that she is the only one who can calm things down.
A few days ago, King Felipe VI and his family began their usual summer stay in Mallorca. However, although they have tried to project an image of normality during their public appearances, the reality they are experiencing is very different.

This summer is proving to be especially delicate for the Spanish royal family, all due to the worsening health of Irene of Greece. So much so that even Queen Sofía was on the verge of making a drastic decision.
As has emerged in recent days, for the first time in more than forty years, Queen Letizia's mother-in-law was not considering traveling to Mallorca.

However, although she was not sure at first, Queen Sofía has agreed to spend a few days at Marivent with the other members of the royal family. This gesture prompted the immediate intervention of the Royal Household.
According to several media outlets, they have asked Queen Letizia to appear in public with her mother-in-law and her daughters. All of this is to project an image of family unity during these delicate times for the institution.
The Zarzuela team believes this situation can't continue like this and makes an important request to Queen Letizia
Despite Irene of Greece's delicate condition, the Royal Household considers the presence of Doña Sofía in Mallorca essential, even if it was brief. Her attendance was key to fulfilling the most important institutional commitment of the summer: the official reception on August 4.
The Queen Emerita was not sure at first, but she finally set one condition: she would only accept if Felipe VI himself personally requested it, and so he did. After speaking with her son, the monarch traveled last Sunday, August 3, to Palma, where she stayed for a few hours, just enough time to fulfill her obligations.

However, the Royal Household's requests did not end there. Zarzuela issued another instruction: that Letizia, Leonor, and Infanta Sofía appear publicly with the Queen Emerita.
The idea was to take a planned walk through a market, a landmark, or a tourist spot on the island. All with the aim of sending an image of family unity. To show a royal family in harmony and cohesion to the public.
It is not yet known whether the Queen Emerita will agree to this second request. What is clear is that she is not at all enthusiastic about participating in a public scene like this, especially considering her sister's delicate condition.
Several media outlets have suggested that Princess Irene may be suffering from advanced Alzheimer's, although there is still no official confirmation from the Spanish Royal Household team.
