The security of King Felipe VI has become an absolute priority for the Royal Household. In recent days, the Security Service has made a decision that further strengthens protocols at public events. The objective is clear: to minimize any possible risk during the monarch's official appearances.
The decision, which comes directly from Civil Guard General Miguel Herráiz, head of the Royal Household's Security Service, involves the incorporation of new technological equipment. These are portable metal detectors that will be used during escort deployments. Their mission will be to improve access control at venues where the head of state appears.

These devices will allow for a much faster and more accurate inspection of the public attending the events. The use of advanced technology will make it easier to detect potentially dangerous objects. The measure has been taken after assessing the needs of the TEDAX and TEBYL teams, which are responsible for preventing incidents involving explosives.
In total, six column-type multi-zone metal detector arches will be acquired. The purchase will be processed by the State Secretariat for Security, through the Deputy Directorate General for Infrastructure and Security Resources Planning and Management. The planned budget for this acquisition is 55,660 euros.
The royal family will be more protected
The acquisition of these systems has been included in official tender documents accessed by Confidencial Digital. The equipment is intended exclusively for the Royal Household's Security Service. This specialized unit is made up of members of the Civil Guard and the National Police Corps.
The main function of these arches will be to strengthen protection at public events attended by any member of the Royal Family. This includes not only King Felipe, but also Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofía, and Queen Emerita Sofía. Each of their appearances requires a specific security arrangement.

The installation of the detectors will take place at the entrance to the venues where the events are held. There, it will be efficiently checked that no attendee enters with prohibited or suspicious objects. This inspection will be carried out by properly trained officers.
In addition, the devices will also be useful for protecting access points during arrivals and departures. Each official journey will be carefully supervised by those responsible for the monarch's security. Both the surroundings and the travel routes will be monitored.
This new measure is part of a broader strategy to adapt the Royal Household's security to current times. Threats haven't increased alarmingly, but the international context requires precautions. Prevention is now more important than ever.
Kings Felipe and Letizia have accepted the decision
The incorporation of advanced technology represents a step forward for the team that protects the Royal Family. Until now, detection was carried out with more basic systems and manual checks. With these portable arches, there will be gains in speed, efficiency, and discretion.

General Miguel Herráiz, who has led the Security Service for several years, has always shown a professional and rigorous approach. His work includes coordinating different units and continuously reviewing action protocols. This new step reaffirms his commitment to preventive and modern security.
The detector arches to be acquired are multi-zone, which allows for precise location of any metal. This greatly facilitates the work of the officers, who can intervene quickly without causing unnecessary inconvenience. In addition, the equipment is lightweight and easy to move from one event to another.
This decision also has a symbolic component. It reinforces the idea that King Felipe's security is a matter of state, assumed by the Ministry of the Interior with all necessary resources. The protection of the Crown is considered essential for the functioning of democracy.
The Ministry has made it clear that this is a necessary investment and not a superfluous expense. The security of institutional representatives requires updated and effective resources. In this regard, the detector arches represent a significant improvement.
Meanwhile, the Royal Household has approved the initiative and is collaborating in the planning of the devices. Coordination with the Ministry of the Interior is constant and smooth. Both organizations share the responsibility of ensuring a safe environment at each of the monarch's public appearances.
