However, in the privacy of Zarzuela Palace, Queen Sofía also finds time to cultivate her hobbies. Although they are rarely discussed, the emeritus queen has personal interests that she develops with dedication and discretion.

These are pastimes she shares with her closest loved ones and that allow people to see a different side of the emeritus queen. Among them are photography and her love for animals. However, there is one that especially stands out: paranormal phenomena.

Two of Queen Sofía's most unknown great hobbies are revealed

Despite having spent her entire life under public scrutiny, Queen Sofía has managed to keep several aspects of her most private life secret. So much so that what is known about her usually comes from third parties or from small clues she herself has let slip.

One of her most recognized passions is culture, especially music. However, the monarch has also shown a strong interest in knowledge and thought.

In fact, for years, Queen Sofía presided over intellectual gatherings at the Paraninfo of the Complutense University of Madrid, known as the "Committee of Wise People." These meetings were attended by experts from various disciplines such as philosophy, astronomy, psychology, or literature.

At these gatherings, the emeritus queen stood out for her curious attitude. "She is tireless, she never stops asking questions... She cares a lot about the people she meets and has a great memory," writer J.J. Benítez once explained to Europa Press.

He also had no hesitation in stating that Queen Sofía is a great fan of paranormal phenomena, a topic she never stopped asking him about whenever they met:

"I was at[the]Zarzuela Palace meeting with her and she kept asking me: 'Where do they come from? What shape do they have? What are they like? Or what's new?'"

This interest has been confirmed by another source. Benita, known as Maestro Joao before her transition, has also confirmed that Queen Sofía had a special interest in astrology.

"She is very accurate, she loves it. We're losing a great astrologer because she doesn't devote herself to it. I think she's a great astrologer, I don't think it, I know it," she said during one of her appearances on the show Zapeando.
