Costco leaves Walmart completely KO in the U.S. with breaking news

Costco accelerates its expansion this month in the United States and challenges Walmart, its main competitor

Grocery shopping is undoubtedly an essential task in our daily lives. Some people prefer quick visits to the corner supermarket, while others choose to fill up their carts in a big way. Not all shopping methods suit those who are looking to save time and money on every purchase.

A popular option for these strategic shoppers is to go to big-box stores in the United States. Companies like Sam's Club, BJ's, or Costco let customers buy products in bulk, which is ideal for stocking up for weeks. But today, the conversation is focused on one of them, and that's Costco.

Costco opens new stores in the United States during this August

Costco has drawn a lot of attention with a move that's making waves throughout the industry. The major chain is synonymous with unbeatable prices, and the famous 2-liter (2 L) olive oil jug or its ever-present $1.50 hot dog are just a few examples. This combination of quality and savings is what has made Costco a benchmark for millions of shoppers.

Until now, many people have wanted to have a Costco store near their home. With 624 branches in the United States, there were still areas that didn't have this shopping experience. But August has marked a turning point, with the opening of new stores that are already generating long lines in their first days.

On August 6, the new store in The Villages, Florida, opened its doors, the 36th in the state. Two days later, Richland, in Washington, D.C., joined the celebration with the opening of another branch, also reaching the number 36 in the region.

But the opening schedule will continue in the coming weeks. On August 15, the Allen, Texas, store is set to open. On August 21, it will be Spring Valley, Nevada's turn, which will welcome its first Costco.

Canada and Mexico also enjoy Costco's expansion

But Costco's expansion doesn't stop in the United States. On August 5, Rimouski, in Quebec, Canada, opened its new store to great anticipation. Just two days later, on August 7, northern Guadalajara, Mexico, saw the opening of its first Costco warehouse.

The last international stop this month will be in East Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, whose opening is scheduled for August 20. This way, Costco continues to strengthen its presence across the continent, responding to the demand of thousands of customers.

On social media like Facebook, fans have shown their excitement with comments full of emotion. "One's going to open 1 mi. (1.6 km) from me! I'm in trouble!" wrote one user. Others, however, keep asking for new locations: "For God's sake, come to Saratoga Springs, Utah, or Eagle Mountain, Utah!"

Many shoppers don't hesitate to make long trips just to get to their nearest Costco. With plans to open between 25 and 30 stores a year, the expansion won't stop soon. So it's possible that the next big opening is closer than you think.
