Nobody thought it was possible and it's confirmed: new weather twist in Catalonia today

Meteorologists ask for a little more patience, because the weather change will take a few days to arrive

Catalonia is preparing for a new weather change in the coming days. Just when it seems it can't surprise anymore, the forecast maps arrive to prove it wrong. Spring continues to do its thing, and the region faces a midweek with new developments.

For now, the current situation shows a clear evolution toward a much warmer environment after a few days of instability. May is making a statement and announcing the arrival of heat with a different outlook than at the beginning of the week. This Tuesday, afternoon storms are expected that could be locally strong in Lleida, a phenomenon that will be restricted as the days go by.

A bonanza that will increase toward the weekend

On Thursday, the precipitation will be concentrated in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, and on Friday, only some residual drizzle is expected. Everything points to the weekend being fully spring-like, with a clear rise in temperatures and an undeniable prominence of the sun. Although some occasional rain in the Pyrenees areas during the afternoon is not ruled out.

But not everything will be calm, as from Monday night and especially on Tuesday, the models point to a possible pocket of cold air at altitude. This could lead to an episode of widespread and intense rains. Although this scenario is not yet fully confirmed and needs monitoring, the potential impact is high.

If it materializes, it would mean a new turnaround in the weather in a matter of hours, as has happened in previous springs marked by variability. Meanwhile, the thermal market already shows signs of change. Until Thursday, temperatures will range between 68°F and 77°F (20 and 25 degrees) in most of the Catalan territory.

Spring in full swing

But from Friday, many regions will start to approach or even exceed 77°F (25 degrees). The areas of Poniente and the Ebro Valley could reach 86°F (30 degrees), an indicator of the arrival of the typical May heat. This increase is due to a change in air masses, with the departure of the cooler one that has marked the last few days.

In contrast, the entry of a warmer one at about 4,921 ft. (1,500 meters) is expected, which will push the thermometer upwards. In short, spring reaffirms itself as a dynamic season full of meteorological surprises. The coming days will be key to confirming if this warm episode takes hold or if the rain will return with force on Tuesday.
