Sam's Club is renewing itself and projects an ambitious expansion plan in the United States

Sam's Club has unveiled an ambitious plan to strengthen its presence in the U.S. market. The company will not only renovate its current stores but also open new locations in different regions of the country.

During its most recent meeting with the investor community, held on April 9, 2025, Sam's Club announced the opening of 15 new locations each year. Additionally, the 600 existing clubs will be renovated to adapt them to the model of the new store in Grapevine, Texas.

Sam's Club unveils its future

This pilot store represents the future of the chain. It features a checkout-free shopping system called Scan & Go, an interactive showroom, and the option for direct home delivery. The goal is to modernize the customer experience and increase operational efficiency.

Chris Nicholas, president and CEO of Sam's Club, didn't hesitate to show ambition. "This is one of the fastest and most scalable transformations currently happening in retail," he stated.

The company aims to double its current membership, sales, and profit figures in the next eight to ten years. With this expansion, it seeks to meet growing demand and reach new areas of the country.

In line with these plans, the first two openings of the year have already been confirmed. One will be in Tempe, Arizona, and the other in Lebanon, Tennessee. The exact locations are: 2080 E Rio Salado Parkway (Tempe) and 600 Willard Hagan Drive (Lebanon).

For now, the company hasn't shared details about the other 13 openings that will be part of the annual plan. However, they are expected to be announced in the coming months.

With this strategy, Sam's Club seeks to strengthen its position against the competition in the wholesale sector. The focus is on providing a more agile, personalized, and technological shopping experience.

The redesign of the clubs will include visible improvements in the physical environment and services. The new showroom will allow customers to interact with products before purchasing them. This innovation aims to increase consumer confidence and improve sales conversion.

Additionally, the Scan & Go system eliminates the need to go through cash registers. Customers can scan and pay directly with their mobile devices. It's evident that this reduces wait times and improves the flow within the stores.

The direct-to-home delivery service will also become a standard option. This way, Sam's Club adapts to the new expectations of today's consumer, increasingly focused on convenience and speed.

This overall modernization responds to new retail trends, where technology and user experience make the difference. The expansion plan is a strong bet to remain competitive in a changing price environment and high competition.
