Large-scale changes in such an influential chain usually don't go unnoticed. When a company with thousands of locations makes drastic decisions, it makes it clear that a new direction is coming. This is precisely the case for Walmart right now.
The company has announced a project that will transform 650 of its more than 4,600 stores across 47 states in the United States. This remodeling will take place over the next 12 months and is designed to improve functionality and comfort within the establishments. The goal is to strengthen its position as a leader against the competition in an increasingly digitalized market.

Walmart bets on the complete renovation of many of its stores in the United States
The new plan from Walmart aims to completely redesign several key areas within the branches. For example, the pharmacies will be larger, with wide aisles and private areas to serve customers with greater confidentiality. This improvement aims for more personalized and comfortable service.
Another focus will be on signage within the supermarkets. The new layout will make it easier for customers to locate products more quickly and clearly. This optimization is intended to reduce shopping times and make navigation through the aisles more efficient, according to Mundo Deportivo.
In addition, the areas designated for online order pickup and delivery will also be renovated. With the rise of digital commerce, Walmart wants these areas to be more accessible, faster, and more efficient. This way, it adapts its services to current consumer habits, where online shopping continues to gain ground.

More stores, more support for entrepreneurs
This major move is part of a long-term strategy. Walmart has announced its intention to build at least 150 new establishments in the United States before 2029. This strengthens its commitment to innovation, expansion, and better customer service.
In addition to improving its facilities, the chain wants to support small business owners. Through the "Grow With Us" program, it offers financial assistance, online training, opportunities to showcase products, and access to experienced mentors. More than 60% of Walmart's suppliers in the United States are small businesses, which shows the importance of this sector in its business model.

This effort also aligns with other global initiatives such as "Vriddhi" in India and "Crece con Walmart" in Mexico, according to Fox Business. Walmart not only seeks to improve its image, but to build an environment where entrepreneurs can grow alongside the brand.
In this regard, it has also opened registration for the annual "Open Call" event, scheduled for June 24, 2025. Here, American small and medium-sized enterprises can present their products and achieve national distribution in Walmart and Sam's Club.
