Joaquín of Denmark has taken an unexpected step that has surprised many. King Frederik X's brother has allowed a popular Danish reality show to film in his former family residence. This is Schackenborg Castle, a place that has witnessed the prince's life for more than two decades.
This decision has caused great interest and has been considered a key move for the future of the palace. For 21 years, Joaquín lived in Schackenborg with his family. First with his ex-wife, Countess Alexandra, and then with Princess Marie, many family memories were made in this castle.

They even celebrated their wedding banquet there in 2008 and have spent great moments together with King Frederik. The prince has always kept a strong emotional bond with the place. "Schackenborg was my home for many years and it's still a place I go to find peace," he recently stated.

Last December 5, coinciding with Constitution Day, the historic baroque castle served as the setting for a very special episode of the reality show Farmer Wants a Wife. The filming has shown its Versailles-like gardens as a dreamlike backdrop for love.
The news has been confirmed by the castle's official account, which has enthusiastically shared images of the shoot. "Here, among a historic and fairy-tale setting, TV2 found the perfect place for a romantic date," they wrote.

This move has not been merely symbolic. It has represented a strategic shift for the Schackenborg Foundation, which now manages the site. Both Joaquín and Marie are patrons of this institution.
By allowing the filming, they have sought to give visibility to the castle and attract new visitors. This is a step designed to ensure the upkeep of the property, whose cost prompted the family's departure in 2014.

In addition, Schackenborg has opened its doors to the public with exclusive experiences. Gourmet dinners, luxury suite accommodations, and visits to the royal gardens are offered. Prices range from €270 to €1,000 and it's even possible to stay in the former administrator's residence, refurbished by Princess Marie.
With this measure, Joaquín has shown that royalty can adapt to the times. He has bet on the sustainability of his legacy. Above all, he has turned the memory of a home into an opportunity for the future.
