Confirmed: U-turn at Red Lobster after announcing bankruptcy in the US

Red Lobster faces a major change that could transform its course after the bankruptcy announcement in the US

For months, Red Lobster's future seemed uncertain after filing for bankruptcy under Chapter 11 in May 2024 to restructure its finances. The chain closed several locations and reviewed lease agreements with the help of a real estate advisory firm to cut costs. However, it now surprises with a strategic shift that gives a complete turnaround to its image and culinary offerings.

This change includes the relaunch of one of its most desired events: Crabfest, which returns in full force this summer and is available from June 23 to September 14. In addition, Red Lobster has introduced 10 new dishes to its menu, especially focused on crab. Along with a renewed selection of refreshing cocktails to attract customers and solidify its recovery after the financial crisis.

Crabfest returns in full force with new flavors

Crabfest is a very popular annual event in the United States that celebrates crab as the main character. This year, Red Lobster presents its signature dish, "Crab Your Way." This dish offers one pound (0.45 kg) of crab legs with the option to choose from different toppings, including the new Old Bay & Parmesan seasoning.

In addition to this option, the restaurant has added two new versions of seafood boils, which stand out for their variety and flavor. The Mariner's Boil includes Maine lobster tail, a dozen shrimp, and snow crab legs, accompanied by corn and red potatoes. Meanwhile, the Sailor's Boil skips the lobster and crab but mixes delicious smoked sausages with shrimp and the same classic sides, according to All Recipes.

For those who enjoy customizing their meal, both boil options allow you to choose from three seasonings: roasted garlic butter, Cajun butter, or the classic Old Bay. This variety invites diners to try different combinations and return to discover their favorite.

New options for every taste at Red Lobster

Not everything on the new menu revolves around crab. For those who prefer meat, Red Lobster has added the Steak Oscar, a sirloin steak topped with crab meat and a creamy sauce. The Salmon Oscar is also available, which replaces red meat with juicy Atlantic salmon, perfect for those seeking lighter options.

The sides have also received special attention. Among the new items are asparagus and potatoes topped with crab meat. To start the meal, the crab-stuffed mushrooms promise to win over the most demanding diners, combining intense flavors and balanced textures.

In addition, Red Lobster has updated its drink menu with three cocktails designed for summer. The Starry Eyed Surprise mixes Patron Silver tequila, guava, and blue curaçao, topped with lemon-lime soda and a sugared rim.

Meanwhile, the Purple Haze is a vibrant cocktail that features Still G.I.N. by Dre and Snoop gin with desert pear and fresh lemonade. Finally, the Passion Star Spritz offers a sparkling and exotic touch with Tito's vodka, passion fruit, and sparkling wine, garnished with a dried fruit star dusted with gold powder.
